Homemade Soap at LIFT

Home-made soap was the topic of discussion and demonstration at the March 19 LIFT (Ladies In Fellowship Together) event held at Lost Creek Mennonite Church, near Oakland Mills. Jen Stimeling mixed and poured soap into molds while giving helpful instructions.

We began our event with a devotional by Kim. She asked us,
"What kind of soap are you (or maybe you're a mixture?)"

Liquid- a soap that's quick and ready to use
You are ready to witness on the spot. You have the love of Jesus flowing through your life. You are a light for Christ to those around you.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that[a] they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

Foaming- a soap that has foaming action
You have a bubbly personality. Perhaps this morning you are bubbling over with the joy of the Lord. You are joyful regardless of your circumstances. You laugh a lot and like to have fun.
"for the joy of the LORD is your strength." Nehemiah 8:10

Bar – a soap that gets the job done
You are happy with who you are and like to blend in with the crowd. You are a hard worker, but in a behind the scenes kind of way. You don't like to make a fuss or have people notice you.
The Proverbs 31 woman was the best example of a hard working woman in the Bible.
Scented – a soap that smells good
You smell good and have a great attitude. People like being around you because you are so sweet and pleasant. You reflect the sweetness of Christ in your life.
For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.” 2 Corinthians 2:15

Powdered – a soap that dissolves in water
Although difficult and painful at times, you desire Christ to melt into every part of your life so that you can become more like Him.
Jen had 10 different scents of soap for us to "test our sniffer"
John answered and said, “A man can receive nothing unless it has been given him from heaven. You yourselves are my witnesses that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent ahead of Him.’ He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. So this joy of mine has been made full.  He must increase, but I must decrease.” John 3:27-30
Antibacterial – a soap that kills germs and bacteria
It is your desire to live a life pleasing to the Lord. You are prepared against sin by safeguarding your heart and don't allow it to creep into your life. When you do, you are quick to ask the Lord for forgiveness.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:7,9
So which kind of soap are you?
