DEFEATING Giants


Women Vs. Giants at LIFT, Jan. 18

Women are champions of …. guilt!
And, that can be one of the GIANTS we face in our lives.

It was good to feel like we were not alone as the ladies met on Wednesday, January 18.

“Women vs. Giants” began with food and prayer time. Our friend, Lori Apple, followed that by reminding us of the story of David and Goliath from the Bible.

• David and the Israelites were taunted by giant Goliath for 40 days!

What giants taunt you? You know your giants, but is that all you hear?

• David knew God would help him because he knew what God did for him in the past. God is a God who can help us NOW too.

Do our giants defy who God is? People are not our enemies, but Satan will us people’s actions to discourage us.

Things change – but God does not

• David did not go into battle with anything fancy (no armor or sword) he went with THE NAME OF GOD.

• David said to Goliath, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” (1 Samuel 17:45)

• Our goal in defeating our giants is to GIVE GOD THE GLORY.

Don’t be afraid to be open about the giant you are facing.
You are not alone.
When a bad thought comes into your mind, STOP and say, “No.” Go do something else so you do not continue to think about it. Label your giants so you know what you are DEFEATING with GOD’S HELP!

We divided into groups and discussed SOME of the many giants we face:

1. Fear: “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” – 2 Timothy 1:7

2. Hurt: “Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” – Colossians 3:13

3. Guilt: “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” - 2 Corinthians 10:4,5

4. Health, Finances, Family: “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4:19

5. Sins: “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” – 1 John 1:8,9

When everything seems cold
around you, let JESUS warm
you from the inside.

6. Discouragement: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” - 1 Peter 5:7

7. Anxiety: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” – Philippians 4:6-8

Woman Vs. Giants - You Win

Ever feel like you "just can't win?"
That, "It's just too big of a problem?"

Then join us for a great discussion on "Woman Vs. Giants"

Our feet carry us through varying walks of life and we each have different "giants" in our lives - guilt, inadequacy, fear, hurts, etc. Lori Apple will lead a discussion on how to deal with these "giants." God is waiting to Bless You.

1. Yourself
2. Someone who could benefit from hearing God's TRUTH spoken into their life. Can you think of a lonely neighbor or a stressed out friend or co-worker? God is ready to bless each one of us.
