Christmas Brunch
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14
Ladies entered the room decorated with the sights and sounds of Christmas. Live greens, poinsettias, candles, and more greeted us at this special brunch. We collected items for the Food Pantry, listened to memorized scripture, prayed together, and felt encouraged and supported by each other.

This daffodil is named Suzie. It reminds me of my sister, Suzie, who is serving overseas in the military. When you plant it, please remember to pray for all the members of our military this Christmas. Pray that the Spirit of God would strengthen those who have a personal relationship with the Lord and help those that do not to understand the power, healing, and forgiveness that can only be found in Jesus, our Immanuel. – Maggie.

Overnight Carmel French Toast

1c. brown sugar
1/2c. butter or margarine ( I used butter)
2 tbsp. light corn syurp
12 slices bread
1/4c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon, divided
6 eggs
1 1/2c. milk
1 tsp vanilla
In a sauce pan over medium heat, bring brown sugar, butter and corn syurp to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Pour into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with 6 slices of bread. Combine sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon: sprinkle half over bread. Place the remaining bread over top. Sprinkle with remaining cinnamon and sugar and set aside. In a large bowl, beat eggs, milk, vanilla and reamaining cinnamon. Pour over bread and chill for at least 8 hours or overnight. Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.
Apple Dew Tart

3 Granny Smith apples
2 pks of Original Crescent Rolls
1/2 cup butter (melted)
1 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 12oz can of Mt. Dew
Preheat oven to 350. Coat 9/13 glass dish with Pam. Peel and slice apples into 16 pieces. Wrap 2-3 slices of apples in crescent rolls and place rolled slices in pan making 2 rows of 8. Place additional slices between rolled slices. Melt butter and mix in sugar and cinnamon and pour over apples. Pour Mt. Dew carefully over everything.
Bake for 45 min. Best served warm with vanilla ice cream.
Party Punch Cooler

1 quart milk
3 cups pineapple juice
3 tsp. lemon juice
1 quart orange sherbet (used Raspberry at LIFT)
1 quart vanilla ice cream
2 cups orange juice
Soften ice cream and sherbet. Combine all ingredients in a large punch bowl. Serve immediately. An ice ring made of equal parts of pineapple juice, orange juice, and water may be used if desired. Flavor of sherbet determines punch color. Serves 20.

Orpha Gingrich was asked to come and she beautifully recited scripture from memory about the birth of Christ. A true inspiration to us to remain in the word of God.
She said the entire Christmas story can be summed up in one verse:
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14
Some of the scripture recited:
Matthew
Mt 2:2 “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.”
Mt 2:3 When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him.
Mt 2:4 When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Christ was to be born.
Mt 2:5 “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written:
Mt 2:6 “ ‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,
are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;
for out of you will come a ruler
who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.’’”
Mt 2:7 Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared.
Mt 2:8 He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.”
Mt 2:9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.
Mt 2:10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.
Mt 2:11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.
Mt 2:12 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.

Lk 2:1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.
Lk 2:2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)
Lk 2:3 And everyone went to his own town to register.
Lk 2:4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.
Lk 2:5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.
Lk 2:6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,
Lk 2:7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
