Decorations for our
lovely "divas!"
A beautiful day with beautiful ladies!
We made purses out of simple fabric placements. (Instructions below).

We began with a "What's In Your Purse" game.

Make sure you put the right
 things into your purse.
Mashelle continued our time with an encouraging devotional:
Why do I put all those things in my purse?

Why do we put all these things in our Christian lives?
Just take what we need:
1. Day Planner:
- Lists our priorities; what really matters
- “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33
2. Cell Phone
- A tool to communicate
- We will never have a busy signal with God.
- Keep an open communication with God.
- “Pray without ceasing” 1 Thes. 5:17
3. Keys
- Faith is the key that unlock the door.
- “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6
4. Identification
- Identification with Christ gives us benefits.
- “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” Romans 8:16,17
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth...
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven."
5. Money
- Don’t invest only in earthly treasures
- “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21
6. Glasses
- See with eyes of compassion
- “If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 2:1-5
"A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger"
7. Tissues
- Have a tender heart
- “Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy” Psalms 126:5
8. Hand Lotion
- Be gentle; have softness
- “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Proverbs 15:1
9. Comb
- Comb through your worries so they do not tangle up your day.
- “Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” Matthew 6:8
10. Lipstick
- Put praise on your lips
- “I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.” Psalms 34:1

"Be Still and Know I am God"
Pretty Pens for your Purse
Prayer Time brought us closer together as some women shared joys and needs. God bless you each.

Instructions for the Placemat Purses that we made today:
1. Select placemat and cut 75 inches of ribbon (one continuous piece)

Purse from a placemat and ribbon - AWESOME!
2. Lay mat right-side up and pin ribbon on. Measure 2 ½ inches from the edge to lay ribbon and start 2 inches down from the top. Pin to the bottom, then measure 18 inches of ribbon (Do not cut!!) and then start pinning the ribbon down the other edge (also 2 ½ inches from the edge. At the end measure 18 inches again and pin to the top of the mat and fold under the end of the ribbon and overlap where your ribbon began. (Measure full length of your mat, multiply by 2, and subtract that from 75 to see how long your straps can be- not all mats are the same size so some handles will vary in length.)

3. Stitch the ribbon on both edges.

4. Fold mat with right sides together and handles on inside. Then pin the edges together. Starting at the top, stitch the edges closed (about 3/8 inch seam).

5. To make the bottom “flat”- measure 1 inch up from the bottom of the side seam and lay flat to make a triangle (be sure your existing seam is open) and stitch across. Repeat on opposite corner.

6. Turn your purse right side out. Add embellishments to your purse-specifically where your ribbon overlapped. (Ribbon bows, buttons, silk or fabric flowers, iron-on decorations—be creative and make is your purse!)
